For those of us with family and friends in California, it's always easy to accept any invitation out West and a chance to stay at our beloved Claremont Hotel. Located in Berkeley, and tucked into the hills of Oakland, this magical location has proved herself steadfast (we can take some inspiration from her as we ride out the holiday season) through fire, storms and earthquakes.
One Mer-Sea founder grew up in these hills - so she has an extra special place in her heart for the historical grounds, built in 1915. A lookout, right above the Claremont, was a frequent hang out for her in high school (shhh, don't tell her mother).
With about 300 rooms, 10 tennis courts, lush landscaped gardens, a beautiful pool and amazing views, we can't imagine anywhere else we'd love to be this holiday season (except maybe trapped inside an Anthropologie enjoying these).
The hotel embraces Christmas traditions with an extra large tree and visits from Santa. The Season's colors and the friendly spirit of California are both a big part of the inspiration for Mer Sea & Co.
