Q: How would you describe the relationship between your artwork and your personal style? A: Perhaps surprisingly, my artwork is more like my alter ego than a mirror. My everyday look is neutral and minimalist, whereas the styles depicted in my artwork is so colorful and vibrant! My work, I guess, is a catharsis for the quiet routines of the everyday. 


Q: Where do you find yourself turning for creative or visual inspiration these days?  A: Street style accounts that I see on Instagram, creative moms dressing for drop off and pieces on the runway beckoning in romantic tones for fall. The gardens of NYC and the Hudson Valley in bloom and the leaves as they turn color. And sometimes… the produce section of an ordinary grocery store. Inspiration abounds in the most mundane places if you’re willing to look!


Q: What’s your process when bringing a new “Flower Girl” to life? A: Sometimes I see a fruit or vegetable and am inspired by the shape and texture – thinking to myself – “I have to make this into a MooMooi piece!” Sometimes I am handed a brief to create something using a found or three-dimensional object, but with a certain concept in mind, and the process goes in the other direction.
