For us, travel is part fantasy, part reality, and 100% research (right??). It doesn't take any amount of convincing for us to be ready in a moment's notice to exit the office. This crazy holiday season has us pining for time away and lucky for us, this December we are heading to the dreamy Gasparilla Inn.
Located in the heart of Boca Grande, one of the barrier islands on Florida’s southwest coast, the hotel has a rich and storied history that even includes the legendary Spanish pirate Jose Gaspar, who reputedly plundered the seas and stashed his treasure on Gasparilla Island in the 18th century.
Built in 1913, this grand resort still maintains its Old Florida charm, and is defined by its historic, pale yellow wooden frame, white pillared entrance, and gabled roofs.
As the oldest wooden hotel in the state, and one of the oldest resorts in Florida, The Inn was recently named to The National Register of Historic Places, and is a member of Historic Hotels of America.
The Inn was one of our first destination shops that believed in the Mer Sea & Co. dream. We began selling in their gift shop years ago and consider it one of the great successes on our journey. We are thrilled to have a place of our own at The Inn. Modern traditions, fresh takes on classics and life at the beach all seem like the perfect place for Mer Sea & Co. Looks like we've found our treasure.
