Melina Note - Denim
Eponymous with style, fashion editor Diana Vreeland said, “Blue jeans are the most beautiful things since the gondola,” and we agree with her wholeheartedly.
One five letter word dominates what I like to travel in…denim. You can also spell it j.e.a.n.s, but either word sums up the basis of my wardrobe. I have been known to cancel something plans when I can’t wear jeans…so does that constitute a problem or a passion?
Call me casual, but for me it’s a way of life—sort of my own passport to adventure. Some of my best and earliest travel experiences were in denim, and when I look back at old photos, I think those were perfect moments, partly because I was comfortable.
Back then, denim really had no give at all, so it’s not surprising my personal choice was really what is now called "the boyfriend" fit. I've always loved this slightly oversized, slouchy style. I snagged jeans from my brother, rolled them up, cinched and belted them, and made them my own back in the '80s, living my most authentic self.
Denim is quintessentially Americana, but it’s been universal in its reach forever. Jeans ground us in a common language, and when people talk about being comfortable in their own skin, I have a feeling most of them are actually wearing a pair of jeans.
When you start a company, you tend to dream big, outlandish dreams. No one dreams of failure. One of our big, audacious dreams was to one day create our own line of denim. We wanted to fuse our passion for travel with our love for denim.
I plan to share our journey into denim soon because it’s filled with worthy, amazing people named Josh, Nico, and Melissa—who quite possibly love this material even more than I do. They are the people who made our dreams come true. We know every pair of jeans has a story, and we have a good one to tell you too.
In the meantime, check out some of our latest denim. It was designed with you & travel in mind—after all, our motto is crafted for the journey.
Xoxo,
Mel
